An old buddy, Lance (Pierce Paris), who is now a successful businessman, is being visited by Amanda (Kenna James). Since they share a birthday, they occasionally get together for cake even though they have generally drifted away over the years. Lance makes reference to a pledge Amanda made, because it is their 30th birthday. He claims that he showed feelings for her ten years ago, but she can’t recall. She rejected him but promised to marry him if they were both unmarried at thirty.
